Lennox and Addinton

When I began my exploration of Lennox and Addington County, I never expected to be standing on a 1.2-billion-year old lava flow. Or finding dramatic roadside evidence of solid rocks that had been folded upon themselves by the pressures of plate tectonics. I have developed a new-found enthusiasm for geology. As I peeked into the nooks and crannies of this old Ontario county, I came to appreciate the diversity of its communities. I hope Lennox & Addington will lure you out of your comfortable armchairs and off the main highways into the farms and forests of this long, narrow strip of a county. There are pleasant adventures awaiting you on its country lanes and village streets. Poke around in small towns and hamlets and you’ll find forgotten hotels, architectural curiosities, old cheese factories, abandoned railways, lost villages and much evidence of those stalwart refugees who founded the county, the Loyalists.
